Masonry Rebuilding

The most serious action that can be taken with a chimney is rebuilding it. This is done when a sizable portion, if not all of the chimney structure is unsound and unsafe beyond the point of repointing. The amount of chimney that must be rebuilt ranges from several courses, a “partial rebuild”, to all of the chimney from the roofline up, or even from the ground level up. Cost therefore varies based on the time and material amounts required. We start by removing the loose brick and mortar, then we begin to lay new brick and mortar. After topping it off with either slate or concrete, we’ll waterproof it for longevity, and often install a stainless steel cap as well, depending on the circumstances.
